like torturing a giant rat

You know old crappy cars that make that super high-pitched squeal when they accelerate? You know--it sounds like someone is torturing a giant rat?

Yeah. Turns out that's our car now.

We're the ones torturing the giant rat.

It's embarrassing.

Fantastic. Is it time to get a belt replaced? Let me know your diagnosis so I can pass it a long to my early-rising giant-rat-torturing neighbor.

Just noticed it on the way home from teaching my ESL class, but my husband was away at soccer so I couldn't tell him. :) Take THAT, Christian!

Okay, okay. I noticed it the day before, too, but forgot...

I think that squealing means you need a new belt. That happened to me in my old car. Best to do it soon, too, because if the belt actually breaks, then you're stuck.
