what we've been up to

1. Trying out various cloth diapers. Some seem to fit. Some don't. We got a good laugh when we found Graham like this after his nap. Thank goodness he hadn't pooped.

2. Not feeling like sleep-deprived new parents. Graham sleeps a ton and we are doing just fine. I feel like I've had the kid forever and everything feels quite natural for us. It helps that he's super mellow and easy.

3. Introducing Graham to his cousins. Luca and Graham are less than 2 months apart!

3. Celebrating Christian's birthday. Happy birthday, Christian!! To celebrate his new life as a father, I got him a skateboard. Every new dad needs a skateboard, right?

4. Visiting the cousins in Loomis. Happy birthday, Sutton! We had so much fun. Ian and Kitty--if you can find Christian a good job, we'll come live by you. :)

5. Having a little cry. I've done so so well since Graham was born. But the other day I broke down and cried. Breastfeeding hurts. 2 boobs x 8 times a day x 18 days = 288 painful latches (okay, the first couple days didn't hurt). Makes me cringe. But I think it's starting to get better...

6. Watching Christian's soccer game. Isn't he a cutie?

In other words, we have been having a lot of fun. And we love that Graham has attracted visits from lots of friends. We love you all and have loved all the visits! Keep 'em coming!

Time for me to go get back in bed...

He is so so cute...I love his swaddled picture - there is nothing better than a tiny baby all swaddled and cozy! And I totally feel you on the breastfeeding hurting thing...I felt like I wanted to throw up with the pain every time my babies latched on for at least the first month or so...but it does get better! Hang in there!

Molly, I'm so glad your first 18 days have been such happy ones! That's so sweet. He is certainly adorable. Sounds like he's being pretty good to you too, with the whole sleeping a lot and only eating 8 times a day! That's great. Yeah, nursing hurts. I'm thinking, How am I supposed to gaze lovingly into his eyes when I'm digging my nails into the arm rests of the chair and fighting back tears of pain? But it slowly gets better and by two months it will be the easiest thing in the world.

he is adorable! yes, breastfeeding hurts. With my first my toes would curl everytime he latched on, but it did get better! My second it only hurt for a few weeks.

Love the baby crack! So cute. Good luck with the cloth diapers and with breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is a challenge but , oh so worth it. I actually get a little depressed thinking about it ending. We've been sick but we'll have to get together soon when we get over our colds.

cute pics. My kids have all had the baby crack issue with regular diapers even. Brelee is in size 4 already just to cover her crack! I really thought about doing cloth diapers this last time. Maybe I'll have to call you for advice. Nursing was a killer sometimes. Had more pain killers for that than I did for labor! But it does go away, hopefully soon for you!!

Try to find some fitted cloth diapers. My friend used to make some and they were AWESOME (I never used them, though...we use disposables), but she stopped. Try www.cushytoosh.etsy.com Her diapers seem to be pretty good.

Maybe call a lactation specialist and see if they can talk to you about the breastfeeding pain.. if it hurts so much you're crying, maybe Graham isn't latching on quite right or something. In our town there's a place dedicated to helping nursing mothers that's affiliated with the local hospital.. and I live in the middle of nowhere. There's got to be a nice place where you are that's like that.

Molly, about the lactation thing...just suck it up. Wait, maybe that's better advice for Graham.
