peter, peter, pumpkin eater

I know I should stop him. I really should. But I just can't wait to get a picture of him inside the pumpkin. And trust me--once he has made a big enough hole, he will go all the way in and eat the seeds--sending them strewn all over my patio. Annoying yet super cute. I'm a sucker for squirrels.

{Sorry about the poor-quality photo. I had to take it in stealth mode through the dirty screen so as to not disturb him.}

Yes, you should stop him. Better yet, shoot him. I used to think squirrels were cute, too. They have eaten ALL of my tomatoes, half of our small apple crop, ALL of my strawberries, ALL of my sunflower seeds from my lone sunflower that survived the sprouting process, and dug DOZENS of holes in our lawns and flower beds. They have dug up half of the seeds I tried to plant this year and some of the small plants that I planted. They are in every way, shape, and form pests. I do not think squirrels are cute anymore.

Molly says she loves squirrels, and it's not a new fettish...she said the same thing in college. In fact, I somehow convinced her that squirrels only live where there are telephone wires for them to run on, and THAT'S why she didn't see many in CA (or maybe we were talking about UT)...She clued in after a bit...but it was almost as funny as her asking me what kind of wildflowers grow on our hills in Chicago...I had to say, Wildflowers? Hills? Empty space to grow anything? I LOVE MOLLY!
