crafty crafty

Looks like I need to do a little catch-up on my crafts. I haven't done a ton lately (I have lots of projects in my head) but here is what I have done.

My first linoleum block carving. In honor of the annoying mocking bird in Hollister that likes to sing at 3am and wake up my parents (and anyone else staying at their house), I decided to make aprons with a mocking bird print for my sisters' birthdays (Ashley, Amy, and Kitty). I was quite pleased by the result. Carving linoleum is certainly more difficult than carving rubber.

I used some of my carved rubber stamps to make sets of cards for my mom and sister-in-law Ashley for Mother's Day:

I also printed on more onesies. Christian and I are excited to start printing onesies for our own little guy! I'll post those when we make them.

Molls, you rock. But I HATE mockingbirds. That's one less thing I need is a freaking mockingbird singing all night long. And we've got one. BLECH!
You can find me in the middle of the night sitting on the floor in the living room practicing my deep yogic breath so that I do not cause damage to that stupid bird. So far, so good.

Lenessa--My dad has been known to throw golf balls at the bird in the middle of the night. No meditative breathing for him. :)

lol...have u seen failure to launch? that's all I can think about. :) I LOVE your onsies! can I ask what type of ink do you use on the fabric? Is it fabric paint? Not that I could duplicate your awesomeness!! love it!

Molly said...

Kati--I usually use basic fabric paint. I bought screenprinting ink/paint, but it came pretty thick and I haven't figured out diluting it to the right consistency for what I do. Because I use a stencil and sponge for some of the designs, if the paint is too thick it pulls on the fabric as I use the sponge. But it it's too thin it bleeds through too much. So I'm still trying to figure out that consistency.
