first ridiculous comment

So I hear about people having to endure all kinds of rude comments from stranger, family, and friends during pregnancy. I've been spared thus far.

But tonight was the best comment yet. I was out with a few coworkers. I mentioned that I was going swimming afterward and one asked, "Do you have a maternity swimsuit?" I smiled and said, "Nope! I wear a bikini!"

As another coworker blurted, "Ha! Awesome!" and reached out to give me a high five, the questioning coworker let out a belittling laugh and said...

"What? You must look like a clown!"

Really? A clown?

I looked at her and said, "Actually, I like my body more now than I perhaps ever have. So I'm perfectly comfortable wearing a bikini with my belly."

And with that I left for the pool--bikini, belly, and all.

Funny! My favorite was when I was nine months along and a co-worker asked me if i'd had my baby yet. Honestly come on...

Wow that is SO rude! I can't believe someone would be so thoughtless, or worse, cruel. Way to keep it together. I would have probably said something unbecoming.

P.S. She must have insecurities or jealously issue.

Wow. That is amazing. Seems like the longer the stretch is in between crazy comments, the WORSE the next one will be.
Seriously, that's amazing. I hope she apologizes today.

Ashley--I think it's quite the opposite. I don't think she has any problem with insecurities. She's my mom's age and she's just doesn't hide it (in her voice or comments) when she thinks you're mistaken or ridiculous...

Molly, it's so true, the generational thing is so different about being prego. My mom hated when my sisters wore tight shirts because it accentuated the belly (which I think is just beautiful). One time we went to this resort in Phoenix over Thanksgiving, and there was this beautiful girl at least 7 or 8 mos pregnant wearing a bikini. It was probably the first time I had seen such a prego person in a bikini, and I couldn't take my eyes off her bc it was the first time someone let me see their prego belly! Some people hide it so much. I say wtf? It's the most beautiful time in your life and you gotta flaunt it!

just make sure to slather lots of sunscreen on that belly. that skin is much more sensitive now.

Oh no, that's pretty bad. I highly doubt you look like a clown! I love pregnant bellies! Better live it up while you can.

Amen sister... I felt the same way - it's amazing what our bodies can do! Way to show that jealous lady what's up!

You go girl for being comfie with your bod. Even though I just got done being pregnant (and glad at that) when I look at your pregnant pictures I remember how fun it was to look pregnant (until I was 9 months pregnant and just wanted the thing out:). My strangest comment was actually 2 weeks after giving birth. Someone asked me how much longer I had till I was due. Now, I realize I had just had the baby 2 weeks before but I didn't look THAT pregnant. Just had a generous muffin top. It was funny. I can laugh about it now:)

You've GOT to be kidding me! That is ridiculous. You're awesome for saying the perfect thing back to her, though. I probably would have just started crying.

You know, I can't really look at this co-worker anymore without wanting to give her the stink-eye.
